Summing Up the Week: Battled-Tested
BATTLE-Tested
As discussed in last week’s Summing Up the Week, the previous week was a bit rough. You can read all about it here. Therefore, I didn’t have high expectations when we rolled into this week. Well, what a whirl wind this week has been. I am exhausted. In fact, I discovered many of my friends are in the same boat, tired and uninspired. It was a relief to know I wasn’t the only one, but I just didn’t understand why. Then I came across this article about surge capacity being depleted and it helped me understand just what all of us are going through at the moment. When we all get through this we will be battled-tested and ready for anything. So, hang in there, this too shall pass.
WHIRL WIND WEEK
I mentioned above it has been a whirl wind of a week. Last weekend, we haphazardly listed our house for rent. There is nothing like a pandemic to make you realize how far you are from your family. Our initial thought was, let’s see if there is any interest in our house. We didn’t think it would rent it out immediately. Well, the opposite happened. We had overwhelming interest from people wanting to rent out our house. We had several people submit applications and are working through a few details, but we will be moving back to Dallas in a little over 30 days.
AIRSTREAM UPDATE
Join @sawdustandsuperglue on Instagram to see behind the scenes footage of the demolition and build out of one of the Studio’s most unique project. It is a 1979 Airstream Sovereign Land Yacht. We have been busy finalizing the design elelments for this project and I can’t wait to see it all come together. It will be earthy and modern, but we are throwing in some vintage to invoke a some nostalgia. After all, it is a 1979 Airstream. Hint, it might include some vintage plaid and tambour.
TEXTILES
At the studio, we are always on the hunt for beautiful textiles that will round out our designs. This week we discovered the most beautiful textile collection, Myra Scott Textiles. You can check out her beautiful textiles by following her on Instagram. Not only did we fall in love with her textiles, but her story resonated with us. She is a self-taught textile designer that gravitates toward “simplistic shapes juxtaposed with ornate details and earth-toned colorways.” Here at the Studio, we are working to figure out how to make her beautiful textiles available to you all through our Studio.
